Spicy Shrimp and Chorizo Kebabs

Ingredients

  • 2 large garlic cloves, thickly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
  • 2 tablespoons pure chile powder, such as ancho
  • ¼ cup live oil
  • 2 pounds large shrimp, shells on
  • 8 small chorizo or other spicy precooked sausage

Instructions

  1. Mash the garlic and salt on a cutting board to a coarse paste. Add the caraway seeds and finely chop them. Transfer to a large bowl and stir in the chile powder and oil. Add the shrimp and toss.
  2. If the sausage is not pre-cooked, boil or microwave till pink is almost gone. Drain and pat dry.
  3. BBQ shrimp and sausage based on grilling method and size. Serve with rice, bread or tortillas.

Notes

  1. This super fast and super tasty marinade for the shrimp, flavored with caraway seeds and ancho powder would also be delicious with chicken, pork tenderloin and any kind of steak.
